Volker Ernsting

Volker Ernsting (born May 4, 1941 in Bremen-Vegesack ) is a German caricaturist and illustrator .

biography

Ernsting is the son of a bank employee. He attended high school and studied at the State Art School in Bremen. He later worked as an advertising artist in a Bremen department store. Between 1963 and 1964 he worked as a type graphic designer at Weser-Kurier . From 1962 he drew for the magazine pardon and in its early days also for the magazine Titanic .

Ernsting has been a freelance graphic artist and caricaturist since 1985 ; his drawings were first published in the weekly magazine Hörzu . From 1994 Ernsting also worked as a caricaturist for the daily newspaper Stuttgarter Nachrichten .

Ernsting lives with his family in Bremen- Vegesack .

A bundle of his work is in the collections of the House of History Foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Focke-Museum in Bremen keeps the original drawings, among other things for his more than 28 book publications . An extensive collection of his work that is critical of politics and society can also be found at the House of History Foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany.
