Volker Jansen

Volker Jansen (* 1970 ) is a professional firefighter from Mützenich , a district of Monschau in the northern Eifel . He works at the control center of the Aachen city region in Simmerath .

In October 2012 in Sydney (Australia), Volker Jansen won six medals at the 10-day World Firefighting Championships, the 12th World Firefighter's Games, five gold in individual ratings in his age group (40 to 45 years) and one silver in the Team ranking. 8,000 firefighters from all over the world take part in the competitions.

On the first day of the competition, the 1,535 steps of the city tower had to be run up the stairs . Jansen won with 9 minutes and 19 seconds and also won the silver medal with colleagues in the team competition. On the second day a 3,000 m long obstacle course followed , in which Jansen won a gold medal. On the third day of the competition he won gold in the 5,000 m and 1,500 m run. He won his fifth gold medal on the last day in the half marathon . This made Volker Jansen the most successful German participant in the 12th World Fire Brigade Championship.

In 2010 he won four medals in Liverpool .

At the 13th World Firefighters Games in Chungju , South Korea , from September 9th to 17th, 2018, Jansen won gold in the floor run in the M45 age group. 350 meters of altitude had to be conquered with a distance of 950 m.

Jansen is married and has two daughters.
