Volker Klein (born April 11, 1949 in Niederkirchen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Volker Klein came to 1. FC Kaiserslautern from his hometown club SV Niederkirchen as a youth and was in the professional squad from the 1967/68 season . He made his Bundesliga debut on February 10, 1968 against Eintracht Braunschweig (0: 1). Klein couldn't prevail at FCK and only made twelve Bundesliga games in three years. In 1970 he went to Arminia Bielefeld , where he became a regular player. In 1972 the club's license was withdrawn in the wake of the Bundesliga scandal, and Arminia had to compete in the Regionalliga West for the 1972/73 season . Klein played second class in Bielefeld for two years and left the club in 1974.

In the 1975/76 season, Klein played for Hammer SpVg in the third-class Verbandsliga Westfalen under Egon Piechaczek , who had also coached him in Bielefeld and Kaiserslautern.
