Volker Lenhart

Volker Lenhart (born December 14, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German educator , professor of educational science and co-founder of international educational science.

Life

Volker Lenhart was born in Berlin at the beginning of the Second World War . He studied Latin, Protestant theology and educational science at the universities of Heidelberg and Bonn and finished his studies with the state examination for teaching at grammar school. Between 1964 and 1968 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Educational Science at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1968 he received his doctorate on Heidelberg university education in the 19th century. This was followed by an activity as a professor at the University of Education in Heidelberg. His habilitation took place in 1972. In 1973 Lenhart became full professor for educational science with a focus on school education at Heidelberg University. Ten years later, in 1983, the main focus was expanded to include historical pedagogy on the one hand and comparative educational science on the other. From 1983 to 2008 Lenhart was head of the Research Center for Comparative Education in Heidelberg, which was founded by his predecessor Hermann Röhrs .

In 1987 Lenhart was nominated by the German Central Association of Physiotherapy as a consultant for the creation of a curriculum for physiotherapy. In 1994 the health and nursing scientist Susanne Schewior-Popp did her doctorate with Volker Lenhart on the subject of physiotherapy and occupational therapy within the professionalization processes in the professions of the health sector. Lenhart has been honorary professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin since 1994 .

Lenhart was a member of the " Educational Research with the Third World (BDW) " commission in the German Society for Educational Science from 1978 together with Karl-Heinz Flechsig and Dietrich Goldschmidt from the Max Planck Institute for Educational Research . From March 1988 to March 1990, Volker Lenhart was chairman of the board of the German Society for Educational Science (DGfE).

In 2008, Volker Lenhart retired. The comprehensive orientation of his position has been canceled.
