Volker Sponholz

Volker Sponholz (* 1966 in Hanover ) is a German illustrator and comic artist .

life and work

Sponholz studied theater studies from 1988 to 1994 at the University of Erlangen and from 1994 to 2000 fine arts at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel . From 2003 to 2004 he trained as an animation designer at the private animation school in Hamburg. Sponholz has been working as a freelance writer, cartoonist and illustrator since 1994. In collaboration with the copywriter Lutz Mathesdorf , he published several football comics (including Bertis Buben and ... Ruuudi! ) In Rowohlt Verlag . Together with the comic artist and author Patrick Wirbeleit , Sponholz is the editor of the Herrimans comicedition . He received honorable mentions at the award of the ICOM Independent Comic Prize in 2003 and 2004 for the comics and pneumatic tubes published by Herrimans . In collaboration with the author Arne Sommer , Sponholz draws the comic adaptation of his radio play series Peter Lundt .
