Volker Steinbacher (* 1957 in Neu-Isenburg ) is a German painter, graphic artist and conceptual artist .

He studied painting and graphic art at the State University of Fine Arts in Frankfurt am Main, Städelschule , with Christiane Maether and Johannes Schreiter, and set design with Klaus Gelhaar at the Offenbach am Main University of Design .

The focus of his work is collage , etching and the multimedia art project World Eye - The Path of Stones .

His works have been exhibited in Germany since 1978. a. in the Darmstadt Secession as well as in galleries and art associations in Saarbrücken, Frankfurt am Main, Cologne, Mannheim, Hanau, Darmstadt and Marburg. In 1992 he was awarded the art prize of the Marielies Hess Foundation, Frankfurt am Main. In 1994 and 1995 he received working grants from the Aldegrever Society in Münster in the Kätelhön copper printing workshops in Möhnesee.

Volker Steinbacher has been the artistic director of free printmaking at the Offenbach am Main University of Design since 2011 . He lives in Frankfurt am Main.
