Volker Steinkraus

Volker Steinkraus (born February 16, 1954 in Hamburg ) is a German doctor and professor of dermatology .

Life

After graduating from high school, Volker Steinkraus was a soldier at the Bundeswehrsportschule Warendorf from 1973 to 1975, was German team champion in modern pentathlon in 1974 and placed in military exams in Class S. From 1976 to 1978 he was a trainee at Berenberg, Gossler & Co. in Hamburg. Steinkraus then studied at the College of Art, Literature and Science at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. He then completed his medical degree at Saarland University . Steinkraus did his doctorate at the Institute for Sports and Performance Medicine, Saarbrücken. After completing his medical training, Steinkraus worked as a research assistant at the University Hospital Eppendorf in the department for cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery and for 2 years as a scholarship holder at the Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Hamburg . He then worked at the University Dermatology Clinic in Hamburg. In 1993 Steinkraus passed the specialist examination for dermatology and venereology and completed his habilitation in the same year at the University of Hamburg for the subject of dermatology and venereology. The additional qualifications of allergology and dermatohistology followed later . From 1993 to 1994 Steinkraus completed a study visit in the field of dermatopathology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, USA.

Steinkraus lives and works in Hamburg.

Services

After holding positions as senior physician, Steinkraus became professor of dermatology in 1996 and later acting medical and managing director of the skin clinic at the University of Hamburg.

Just one year later, Steinkraus founded the Dermatologikum Hamburg practice . In the same year he founded the skin research institute Skin Investigation and Technology Hamburg . In 1999 the Skin Biology Center institute was founded . Together with a laboratory in Switzerland, he developed a skin care product Sensitive Biology Therapy , which is available in seven countries.

Volker Steinhaus is a speaker for lectures at national and international congresses.

The Dermatologikum Hamburg Foundation, established by Steinkraus, awards grants to young foreign doctors from countries in need of medical support.
