Volker Woest

Volker Woest (* 1954 in Cuxhaven ) is a German chemistry didactic and university professor .

Career

Woest studied chemistry and mathematics at the University of Bremen and graduated in 1982 with the first state examination for teaching at public schools. Two years later, the second state examination for teaching at public schools followed. From 1985 to 1989 he was a research assistant in the field of chemistry didactics at the University of Bremen and also taught at Bremen grammar schools. The doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. took place in 1990 at the chemistry department of the University of Bremen with a longitudinal study on the subject of "open chemistry lessons" (work group Prof. Just). From 1990 to 1993 Woest was a research assistant at the Senator for Education ( Bremen ) and in 1993 moved back to the University of Bremen, where he worked as a research assistant in the chemistry department until 1999. Here he carried out the scientific support of model experiments for "environmental education in natural science teaching" and worked on the development, testing and evaluation of concepts, teaching materials and teacher's manuals. The habilitation for the subject "Chemistry Didactics" took place in 1997.

Since the winter semester 1999/2000 Woest has been professor of chemistry teaching at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena .
