Volkhard Krech

Volkhard Krech (born November 18, 1962 in Bochum ) is Professor of Religious Studies at the Ruhr University Bochum and Director of the Käte Hamburger Center “Dynamics of Religious History” and the Center for Religious Studies (CERES).

Life

Volkhard Krech studied Protestant theology , religious studies , sociology and philosophy in Heidelberg and Bielefeld . At the Sociological Faculty of Bielefeld University he received his doctorate in 1995 on Georg Simmel's theory of religion and completed his habilitation in 2001 with a thesis on religion in modern society . From 1995 to 2004 he was a consultant for the sociology of religion at the research facility of the Evangelical Study Group (FEST). Volkhard Krech has been a university professor at the Ruhr University Bochum since 2004.
