Volkmar Leimert

Volkmar Leimert (born January 31, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German composer and music dramaturge .

Life

Volkmar Leimert attended the EOS "Johann-Wolfgang-von-Goethe" in Karl-Marx-Stadt until his Abitur in 1957. He received private music lessons from Gustav William Meyer in Grüna. Then he worked as a merchandise issuer. From 1959 to 1964 he studied composition with Ottmar Gerster , Wilhelm Weismann and Carlernst Ortwein at the Leipzig Music Academy . After the state examination, he was an aspirant in Leipzig from 1964 to 1967 . He then became a music dramaturge at the Städtische Theatern Karl-Marx-Stadt (from 1991 Chemnitz). In 2005 he retired.

He is a member of the Lions Club Chemnitz and the Saxon Music Association . He is also the secretary of the Chemnitz branch of the Richard Wagner Association . In 2008 Leimert participated in the joint project exhibition Richard Wagner-Episode X of the Association of Visual Artists Leipzig and the Saxon Music Association in the Leipzig City History Museum . His works are u. a. Published by Verlag Neue Musik in Berlin.
