The Volksbank eG Gebhardshain is a (semi-public) cooperative bank based in the Rhineland-Palatinate Verbandsgemeinde Gebhardshain in district Altenkirchen . Today's Volksbank emerged in 1970 from Volksbank Gebhardshain, Raiffeisenkasse Rosenheim and Naurother Raiffeisenkasse.

history

From loan association to Volksbank

The business area of today's Volksbank Gebhardshain eG is essentially limited to the former parish Gebhardshain or the former Gebhardshain association .

The history of the bank must therefore be seen against the background of the economic development in this area over the past 125 years. Due to unfavorable soil and climatic conditions and high population density, the Gebhardshainer Land belonged to a poor and barren area, even for Westerwald terms. The existing mineral resources did not change anything, because the poor traffic conditions meant that they could only be used to a limited extent.

Gebhardshainer Loan Association

Despite the close proximity to the places where Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen worked , the predecessor institute of today's bank was not founded until 1888 - the year Raiffeisen died. A Gebhardshainer Loan Association, which had already been founded on March 10, 1869, was initially dissolved again in 1871. On January 8, 1888, the Gebhardshainer Loan Fund Association was re-established in the Kirchdorf Kotzenroth (today's name Rosenheim), which belongs to the Gebhardshain mayor . In 1946 the name was changed to Raiffeisenkasse Rosenheim.

Naurother Raiffeisenkasse

On February 9, 1919, citizens of Naurother founded an agricultural purchasing and sales cooperative. In March 1928 it was decided to start the money business.

Volksbank Gebhardshain

The namesake of today's institute was founded on March 25, 1917 as a savings and loan fund. On July 25, 1948, it was decided to take over the Gebhardshain agricultural purchasing and sales cooperative. The institute has operated as Volksbank Gebhardshain since 1963.
