history

The development of Volksbank eG, Hildesheim-Lehrte-Pattensen, was different. Depending on the local economic upheaval towards an industrial society, the need for medium-sized credit institutions in the regions arose very differently from the middle of the 19th century. From the middle of the 20th century, multiple mergers resulted in regional banks from numerous locally established cooperatives. The Volksbanken von Springe, Ronnenberg and Lehrte joined the Volksbank in Pattensen in this order between 1990 and 2003, the name of which was supplemented in each case. At the same time, the Volksbank in Hildesheim grew in a similar way. From 2000 to the end of 2015, Michael Siegers was Chairman of the Board of Management of Volksbank.

Hildesheim

Inspired by the example of savings and loan funds in what is now the Hildesheim district, today's Volksbank was founded on December 30, 1897. Mainly supported by the craft, it was called the Hildesheim savings and loan association. After many years of economic changes, the bank became Volksbank Hildesheim eGmbH in 1941. After the merger with Volksbank Leinetal in 1989, Volksbank Hildesheim-Leinetal eG was created.

In 1999 it then merged with Volksbank Harsum and since then has been known as Volksbank Hildesheim eG. In 2014 this bank had 178 employees (full-time), 23 branches, 53,053 customers and 28,234 members and total assets of 761 million euros (deposits: 609 million euros, customer loans: 394 million euros).

Taught

The formation of an important railway junction in Lehrte , combined with the completion of the line via Stendal to Berlin in 1871, ensured strong economic growth in this area. The creation of two cooperative banks was extraordinary. On November 18, 1873, the advance and savings bank in Lehrte eG was formed. Shortly afterwards, on December 14, 1873, the Central Advance and Savings Association was founded in Lehrte.

The names of both institutes changed several times in the following decades. The Central Advance and Savings Association in Lehrte became the Genossenschaftsbank Lehrte eGmbH in 1933 and the Advance and Savings Bank in Lehrte operated as Lehrter Volksbank von 1873 eGmbH from 1941. The last change of the company name took place in 1974 when the Lehrter Volksbank and the cooperative bank Lehrte merged to form Volksbank Lehrte eG as part of a merger. The acquiring credit cooperative was the Lehrter Volksbank von 1873 eG. In the years from 1974 to 2003, Volksbank Lehrte grew through further mergers. In 1976 the savings and loan association Ahlten, in 1979 the Volksbank Sievershausen and 1985 the savings and loan association Ilten and the Sehnder Bank were added.

In 2003 the Volksbank Lehrte merged with the Volksbank Springe-Pattensen-Ronnenberg.
