history

Volksbank Leonberg-Strohgäu emerged from mergers of independent banks. These were created according to the principle of the cooperative idea of Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch and Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen . Nowadays, the focus is on the financial services business, lending and investing.

In 1975 Volksbank Leonberg, Eltinger Bank, Raiffeisenbank Gebersheim, Genossenschaftsbank Höfingen and Warmbronner Bank merged to form Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Leonberg. In 1986 it was renamed Volksbank Leonberg.

In 1966 the Rutesheim savings and loan association merged with the Perouse savings and loan association. In 1970 there was a merger with Raiffeisenbank Friolzheim and Raiffeisenbank Heimsheim to form Rutesheimer Bank. This was renamed Volksbank Rutesheim in 1976. In 1979 the merger with Flachter Bank took place.

In 2000, Volksbank Leonberg, Renninger Volksbank and Volksbank Rutesheim merged to form Volksbank Region Leonberg.

In 1977 the Eberdingen cooperative bank merged with the Heimerdingen cooperative bank to form the Heimerdingen-Eberdingen cooperative bank. In 1999 the Heimerdingen-Eberdingen cooperative bank and Ditzinger Bank merged with Münchinger Bank. These then traded as Volksbank Strohgäu, the headquarters are in Münchingen. The then Gerlinger Bank joined Volksbank Strohgäu on August 21, 2001. In 2018 the Volksbank Strohgäu merged with the Volksbank Region Leonberg. The company name of the bank changed to Volksbank Leonberg-Strohgäu eG .

Volksbank Leonberg

On January 20, 1867, the "Gewerbebank Leonberg" was founded in the Hirsch Gasthaus with 74 signatures. Members came from the cross-section of the Leonberg trade and consisted of craftsmen, merchants, business owners, innkeepers, economists and the town hall. The basic idea was to collect funds from members in the region for a safe investment. These funds, in turn, should be loaned to other owners of the cooperative as credits for business activities. In 1939 the bank was renamed Volksbank Leonberg.

Eltinger Bank

On April 19, 1914, the Eltingen Loan Association was founded by 96 men and 1 woman in the Kronensaal in Eltingen. Mayor Friedrich Claß became chairman and pastor Ludwig Sproesser Chairman of the Supervisory Board. In 1940 the bank renamed the Eltingen savings and loan fund. In 1959 the bank was renamed Eltinger Bank. In 1961 the company moved into a new bank building.

Raiffeisenbank Gebersheim

44 Gebersheim citizens, farmers and craftsmen founded the Gebersheim Loan Association on March 21, 1925 in the town hall hall. Mayor Gotthilf Bolay took the chair. Friedrich Epple became chairman of the supervisory board. In 1935 the company was renamed to the savings and loan fund Gebersheim. In 1966 the bank was renamed Raiffeisenbank Gebersheim.

Cooperative bank Höfingen

36 Höfingen citizens, farmers and craftsmen founded the Höfingen loan fund association on April 20, 1895 in the town hall hall. The councilor Wilhelm Klink was elected chairman, pastor Rudolf Dorner chairman of the supervisory board. In the 1930s, the bank was renamed to Savings and Loan Fund Höfingen. In 1958 the name was changed to Genossenschaftsbank Höfingen.

Warmbronn Bank

On July 13, 1913, 67 citizens founded the Warmbronn Loan Association in the Grüner Baum. Christian Glazle became chairman. Pastor Friedrich Englert took over the chairmanship of the supervisory board. In 1940 the bank was renamed to Spar- und Loankasse Warmbronn. Since 1965 the bank operated as Warmbronner Bank.

Volksbank Rutesheim

In 1976 the Rutesheimer Bank was renamed Volksbank Rutesheim. Before the bank was called Rutesheimer Bank, it operated as a savings and loan fund Rutesheim.

Savings and Loan Fund Perouse

In 1888, the Perouse savings and loan bank was founded.

Raiffeisenbank Friolzheim

The loan office founded in 1909 by 54 citizens in Friolzheim last traded as Raiffeisenbank Friolzheim.

Gerlinger Bank

On May 14, 1888, a loan association was founded in Gerlingen. The aim was to do all financial transactions on site and to provide members with cheap loans. Gerlingen had 1,940 inhabitants, 209 of whom worked as farmers and were therefore potential beneficiaries of the club's offer. The Kreditkassen-Verein quickly developed into a universal cooperative, which also promoted the inexpensive purchase of goods and machines.

Münchinger Bank

On April 11, 1895, 29 farmers and craftsmen from Münchingen founded the Münchingen Loan Association in the town hall. The first bank rooms were rented in the former dairy cooperative. In 1935 the loan association was renamed the Münchingen savings and loan association. In 1955 it became Münchinger Bank eG. It had 398 members and total assets of 1.5 million DM. In the following 16 years the business volume increased fivefold. In 1994 Münchinger Bank eG was one of the 100 largest cooperative banks in Württemberg with a business volume of DM 280 million.

Heimerdingen cooperative bank

The Genossenschaftsbank Heimerdingen eG was founded in Heimerdingen on February 6, 1899. For almost 50 years, business was done in the room of the computer. In 1957, the building in Hausgasse was built together with the dairy cooperative. The cooperative was also active in other areas. Seeders, a meadow roller and disc harrow were purchased for common use. In October 1983, the bank in Heimerdingen moved into new, modern premises in Hausgasse.

Cooperative bank Eberdingen

The cooperative was founded in Eberdingen on May 22, 1903. As early as 1874, however, the first savings and "creditor association" was founded. However, this was dissolved again in 1881 due to the establishment of the Oberamtssparkasse. The main purpose of the founding of the loan office in Eberdingen, besides banking and cash-desk business, was trading and brokering agricultural commodities. In 1964, today's bank building was built on Hochdorfer Strasse.

Ditzinger Bank

The Ditzinger Bank was founded on February 2, 1895 under the chairmanship of the then Schultheißen Stähle as a loan association and entered in the commercial register on September 16, 1897. In 1929 she changed the name to Ditzinger Bank. It survived the global economic crisis largely unscathed. When, in the course of the economic boom in the 1950s, the previous business premises in Gerlinger Strasse proved to be too small, the bank had a new building erected on Weilimdorfer Strasse in 1956/57, which was opened on July 6, 1957. In 1969 another branch was opened at Marktstrasse 17.
