history
The Volksbank Mindener Land was created in 2011 through the merger of Volksbank Minden-Hille-Porta and Volksbank Petershagen. The Volksbank Minden-Hille-Porta emerged in 2002 from the Volksbank Hille and the savings and loan fund Minden-Porta Westfalica. Volksbank Petershagen was founded a year earlier through the merger of three cooperative banks operating in the Petershagen urban area. The predecessor institutions were the Volksbank Friedewalde, the Spar- und Kreditkasse Petershagen and the Volksbank Petershagen Bierde-Frille Windheim-Heimsen. The bank's first origins can be seen in the numerous savings and loan associations founded at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Examples are the clubs from Holzhausen II (1890), Nammen (1902) and Ovenstädt (1888). In 2013 the bank celebrates its 125th anniversary. The first savings and loan association in Ovenstädt from 1888 is taken as the basis.
In August 2020, the merger with Volksbank Bad Oeynhausen-Herford to form Volksbank Herford-Mindener Land eG was decided.

The bank operates six main branches in Hille (Dorfstraße), Minden (Markt and Königstraße), Petershagen (Hauptstraße and Bahnhofstraße, Lahde) and Porta Westfalica (Schalksburgpassage) as well as numerous branches and self-service branches. Both private customer and corporate customer transactions are processed here. The focus of the business is the deposit and loan business. In addition, the bank generates commission income mainly through the sale of the products of the affiliated companies. The real estate business is covered by the subsidiary "VB-ImmobilienCenter GmbH".
Branch area
The branch area includes the area of the old institutes in Hille, Porta-Westfalica and Minden. The merger with Petershagen adds a new area to the north of the district. This region was included in the branch area in 2011 and the bank was consequently renamed “Volksbank Mindener Land eG”.
Headquarters
In July 2011, Volksbank Mindener Land bought the administration building from Strassen.NRW on Marienstraße in order to build the new headquarters of the newly merged bank by 2012. In addition to the rooms for the internal departments, there are also consulting rooms for corporate customer advisors and securities specialists. In addition, a self-service pavilion was built on the front part of the property.
Crowdfunding portal "Many create more"
In January 2014 the crowdfunding portal “Many create more” of the Volksbank Mindener Land went online. The platform gives non-profit associations and institutions the opportunity to collect funding for their projects.
