The Volksbank Rhein-Wupper eG was a cooperative bank based in Leverkusen . She worked in the Leverkusen, Langenfeld and Leichlingen business areas. In addition to the main office and the real estate and construction finance center in Leverkusen- Opladen, business outlets were maintained in the districts of Quettingen , Lützenkirchen , Wiesdorf , Bergisch Neukirchen , Küppersteg , Schlebusch as well as in Langenfeld and Leichlingen.
In 2017, Volksbank Rhein-Wupper eG merged with VR Bank eG Bergisch Gladbach to form today's VR Bank eG Bergisch Gladbach-Leverkusen.
history
On September 26, 1927, on the initiative of the Prussian state parliament member Viktor Teitscheid, a cooperative credit institute, the "Mittelstandsbank for the Lower District of Solingen" was founded. On June 25, 1928, banking operations began in the SME cartel building at Aloysianum . In 1929 the paying office was opened in Wiesdorf. In 1931 the name was changed to "Mittelstandsbank für den Rhein-Wupper-Kreis eGmbH". In 1934 the name was changed to "Community bank for the Rhein-Wupper-Kreis eGmbH".
In June 1942, the General Assembly decided on the new name “Volksbank Opladen eGmbH”. In 1977 the name was changed to "Volksbank Rhein-Wupper eG".
With retroactive effect from January 1, 2017, VR eG Bank Bergisch Gladbach and Volksbank Rhein-Wupper eG merged to form VR Bank eG Bergisch Gladbach-Leverkusen.
