Location and accessibility
Schöneicho is located approx. 7 km southwest of the city of Jessen and is connected to it via the L 114 and the Jessen district of Grabo .
history
As an anger village , probably founded by Flemish settlers at the end of the 12th century, Schöneicho was first mentioned in documents in 1339. While the place was mentioned several times over the centuries in changing spellings ( Schoneke , Schoneiche , Schöneich ), today's spelling Schöneicho established itself in 1833. All spellings are probably based on the fact that in earlier times beautiful oaks were around the place .
The place suffered from heavy flooding in the years 1771 and 1890 due to dam bursts in the surrounding communities of Kleindröben, Gehmen and Dautzschen .
