Mauken is a district of the town of Jessen (Elster) in the Wittenberg district of Saxony-Anhalt .

Location and accessibility

Mauken is located approx. 15 km southwest of the city of Jessen and is connected to it via the L114 and L128.

DGPS transmitter Mauken

There is a DGPS transmitter south of Mauken, which broadcasts correction signals for appropriate navigation devices on the frequency of 313.5 kHz. It uses a 25.2-meter-high, grounded tubular steel tower as a transmitting antenna, feeding the transmission energy at a height of 16.2 meters.

history

Presumably laid out as a Rundling by Slavic settlers , Mauken was first mentioned in documents in 1560. With the influx of citizens who were increasingly active in agriculture, the place developed into a street village in the 1930s .
