Location of Klöden in Saxony-Anhalt

Klöden is a district of the town of Jessen (Elster) in the district of Wittenberg in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany). Before January 1, 2011, Klöden was an independent municipality that belonged to the Elbaue-Fläming administrative community.

geography

Klöden is about 12 km west of Jessen on the Elbe . A district of the municipality is designated: Rettig.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 965.

On July 21, 981 Otto II gave the place, which was then in Gau Nizizi in the County of Diemars, together with Pretzsch to the Memleben monastery .

Until 1439, Klöden Castle was owned by Apel Vitzthum the Elder, who played an important role as the "bad advice" of Duke Wilhelm of Saxony and one of the people responsible for the so-called Saxon Brotherly War (1446-1451). Then the castle was exchanged for Lichtenwalde (near Chemnitz) by the von Honsberg noble family from Meissen, who were to keep it for several decades.

In 1935 the place name was changed from Clöden to Klöden.

On May 1, 1974, the community Schützberg was incorporated. On March 15, 1990, Schützberg was spun off and became independent again.

Klöden coat of arms

politics

coat of arms

Blazon : "In silver over blue with three (2: 1) fish covered a blue castle with a central tower and side wings, red roofs, open windows and an open gate in the left wing."

The coat of arms, which Klöden carries as a symbol of communal self-expression even after the incorporation, was designed by the communal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch in 1995 and included in the approval process. It ties in with a coat of arms previously used in common law . While the building symbolizes the local castle, the blue base of the shield with the fish refers to the location on the nearby Elbe.

The colors of the municipality are: blue and white

flag

Klöden carries a two-striped flag, the first (mast-side) stripe of which is blue and the second stripe is white. The stripe flag has the top stripe blue and the bottom stripe white. The coat of arms is placed in the middle.
