Mügeln is a district of Jessen (Elster) in the district of Wittenberg , Saxony-Anhalt , Germany .

Almost the entire Glücksburger Heide belongs to the Mügeln area .

history

The first time Mügeln was mentioned in a document in 1431 as "Mogele". Mügeln belonged to the Seyda lordship . From 1366 this area was under Saxon suzerainty. In 1501 Frederick the Wise bought the entire Seyda estate. From 1576 to 1580 the Glücksburg hunting lodge was built by Elector August I of Saxony and in 1719 the electoral approval for the construction of a windmill came.

In 1816 the Kingdom of Saxony ceded its northern parts to Prussia and Mügeln belonged to the newly formed district of Schweinitz in the administrative district of Merseburg , the Prussian province of Saxony . In 1844 a wheelwright was opened and in 1878 a second inn was opened. In 1900 a bakery and a shoemaker were added and in 1910 a butcher shop was opened. In 1920 Mügeln was connected to the electricity network.

After the administrative reform of 1952, Mügeln belonged to the Jessen district in the Cottbus district . On May 1, 1974, Glücksburg was incorporated into Mügeln, and on January 1, 1993, Mügeln was incorporated into Jessen. The village has the zip code 06928 and a district area of ​​4387 hectares. In 2013 Mügeln became part of the city of Jessen and now also has the postcode 06917.
