The evangelical village church Mügeln is a hall church in round arch style in Mügeln , a district of the city of Jessen (Elster) in the district of Wittenberg in Saxony-Anhalt . The parish Mügeln part of the Protestant parish of Wittenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Landstrasse 113 runs as Mügelner Hauptstrasse coming from the west in a south-easterly direction through the town. In the historical center, the north running spanned Ulmenstraße an elliptical village green on. The church is slightly off-center to the east on this area, which is not fenced in .

Building description

View into the nave

The building was essentially made of bricks , which were then plastered . The choir is straight and has not moved in. On the east side is a large arched window. The facade was optically structured by two cornices . One is below the window sill of the arched window, the second cuts the arch. In addition, the shape of the window was a frilly Fasche further emphasized. Another cornice separates the gable , which is also plastered . There is a small arched window here.

The nave has a rectangular floor plan. The north and south sides are simply designed. Four large arched windows are built into the long walls, which are also decorated with two cornices and bezels.

The west tower consists of reddish bricks and is drawn in opposite the ship. It can be entered from the west through a large portal. Above the gate is a medallion showing Jesus Christ . There are two smaller extensions to the side, each with an additional gate. The corners of the tower were decorated with pilaster strips that merge into small pinnacles on the upper floor . Above that on each side is a large, arched sound arcade . In the eight-bent rising spire , one each clock tower and several dazzling shaped crosses were installed in the gables. The tower itself ends with a tower ball and cross.

organ

The organ, originally created by Conrad Geißler in 1885 and pneumatized in the 20th century, was restored and re-mechanized in 2012 by the organ building and restoration workshop Rainer Wolter .
