Lindwerder is a district of the town of Jessen (Elster) in the Wittenberg district of Saxony-Anhalt .
Location and accessibility
Lindwerder is located approx. 9 km northeast of the city of Jessen and is connected to it via the B 187 and L 113.
history
Founded as a mixture between the settlement forms Rundling and Angerdorf , Lindwerder was first mentioned in documents in 1420 under the name Lintwerdir .
Lindwerders Church was built in 1717, after which a wooden bell tower was added in 1781. The tower and roof of the nave were renovated in the 1990s.
During the Wars of Liberation in the years 1813-1815, the place was occupied by French troops for over ten days; all residents fled, but returned to the village after the troops had withdrawn.
On September 25, 1859, a fire struck the place, in which several buildings were destroyed.
