Kremitz is a district of the city of Jessen (Elster) on the Black Elster and is located 12 km southeast of Jessen in the eastern part of Saxony-Anhalt in the district of Wittenberg .
history
Kremitz was founded as a sheep farm around 1400 and is located near the watercourse of the same name . The place was first mentioned in documents in 1419. The sheep farm with around 500 sheep was closed in 1550. The half-timbered church consecrated to Saint Mary was built in 1774. From 1931 to 1967 the community had its own school. At the beginning of 1991 the place was the smallest independent municipality in Saxony-Anhalt.
With effect from January 1, 1992, Kremitz joined the community of Holzdorf . Holzdorf was incorporated into the city of Jessen (Elster) on March 1, 2004.
Kremitz has its own volunteer fire brigade (founded in 1892) and a local community (founded in 2005). Every two years there is a large Lanz bulldog and tractor meeting.
