The Volksbank eG Welzheim is a cooperative bank based in Welzheim in Baden-Wuerttemberg .

history

In the middle of the 19th century , when small businesses and agriculture were in a difficult economic situation, progressive-minded men in Welzheim recognized the importance of savings and advance payment associations on a cooperative basis. Following the example of Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch from Delitzsch and at the suggestion of the Welzheim city caretaker Munz, a call for the establishment of a credit union appeared in the Boten vom Welzheimer Wald . On September 13, 1868, citizens of Welzheim and the surrounding area met in Plapp'schen Garten and jointly founded the Welzheim commercial bank .

The following years were times of steady economic upswing, deposits increased and the need for credit became increasingly brisk. A dividend of 6% could be distributed to the members for the financial year 1871/72 .

In 1997 the merger with the Raiffeisenbank Alfdorf-Pfahlbronn eG , based in Alfdorf, took place.

In 2015, the merger with Raiffeisenbank Weissacher Tal eG , based in Allmersbach im Tal, took place . The “new” Volksbank Welzheim eG now has a total of five branches.

Volksbank Welzheim celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2018.
