The VHS-Zweckverband Hilden-Haan is a municipal educational institution in the neighboring towns of Hilden and Haan in the Mettmann district . He is a member of the State Association of Adult Education Centers of North Rhine-Westphalia e. V. and the educational mandate as it results from the continuing education law.
history
In 1920 the adult education centers in Hilden and Haan were founded. At that time there were two independent educational institutions. Only later did the state of North Rhine-Westphalia create the basis on which the VHS-Zweckverband Hilden-Haan was founded at the beginning of 1976 with the First Further Education Act of July 31, 1974.
The organs of the Zweckverband are the association assembly, the work plan committee and the head of the association Birgit Alkenings (Mayor of Hilden).
Locations
The VHS Hilden-Haan has three locations. The head office is in the " Alten Helmholtz " in Hilden, Gerresheimer Straße 20. This is where the VHS management and administration are located and where most of the events take place.
Another location in Hilden is in the former Theodor-Heuss-Schule, Furtwänglerstraße 2. There, u. a. Language courses and the second educational path offered.
The Haaner location, where various courses are offered, is at Dieker Straße 49.

Integration courses
Since mid-2012, the Hilden-Haan Adult Education Center has been an approved provider of integration courses within the meaning of the Integration Course Ordinance by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf). The courses are aimed at immigrants with the aim of imparting sufficient knowledge of the German language in accordance with Section 43 (3) of the Residence Act and Section 9 (1) sentence 1 of the Federal Expellees Act. Furthermore, everyday knowledge as well as knowledge of the legal system, culture and history of Germany, in particular the values of the democratic state of the Federal Republic of Germany and the principles of the rule of law, equality, tolerance and freedom of religion are to be conveyed.
Advanced training
In addition to the open program, “Education to Order” is also offered for groups, schools and teams, as well as VHS business training courses specifically for companies, businesses or public institutions, with funding from the NRW Education Check .
