The 1951 South American volleyball championship for women ( Spanish: Campeonato Sudamericano Femenino de Voleibol de 1951 ) took place from September 15 to 22, 1951 at the same time as the men's competition in Ginasio de Fluminense in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro . Brazil won the first edition of the South American Championship ahead of the national teams from Uruguay and Peru . The championship was played in the mode everyone against everyone .
