The ASG Vorwärts Havelberg was a German army sports association from Havelberg in today's Stendal district , whose football department existed until 1989.
Football section
Vorwärts Havelberg appeared for the first time in 1980 in the higher-class football of the Magdeburg district with promotion to the Magdeburg district league . The ASG, which was reinforced at the beginning of the 1980s by players from the GDR league , drove the runner-up behind the Wernigerode unit in its opening season. In the same year Vorwärts Havelberg won the Magdeburg District Cup after a 1-0 final victory over Empor Tangermünde . In the associated qualification for the first main round of the FDGB Cup, Havelberg lost 1: 2 to ASG Vorwärts Dessau .
In the 1981/82 season Vorwärts Havelberg also won the championship of the Magdeburg district. The superordinate army sports association Vorwärts withdrew the team from promotion to the GDR league for financial reasons, so that the second-placed BSG Motor Schönebeck moved up as a promoter. The drastic austerity course was also clearly visible in the district league. As early as 1984, the ASG rose as a knocked-down bottom in the table again in the district class area, and ended his short but quite successful third-rate era.
Vorwärts Havelberg was dissolved in 1989 and withdrawn from gaming.
