The Vossbrücke is a listed pedestrian bridge over the Bode in Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

Located east of Quedlinburg city center, it connects Rathenaustraße on the right of the Bode with Amelungstraße on the left of the Bode. It was named after the Quedlinburg City Councilor Max Voss (1863-1927), who held office in Quedlinburg from 1891 to 1927. Near the west end of the bridge is the also listed Villa Amelungstrasse 1 .

Architecture and history

The bridge was built in 1902, according to other information around 1910, as a single-span arch bridge . With the bridge, a pedestrian connection was created from the Quedlinburg city center to the south-eastern urban expansion areas. The bridge was designed as an iron truss construction .

In 1927, the year Max Voss died, the bridge was dedicated to Voss. Probably in 1929, the bridge was fitted with an ornamental grille spanning the bridge with a portrait relief of the former municipal building councilor, including the inscription Stadtbaurat Max Voss, December 3rd, 1891 - November 14th, 1927 . On the other side of the portrait is the name Vossbrücke . The decorative grille is crowned by a lamp in the style of Expressionism . The ironwork was carried out by the master locksmith Rinkenberg . The portrait was made by Franz Jenrich .
