The Vrkoč consists of olivine - basalt , which is broken down in the rock in a very well-proportioned hexagonal pillar shape. In some cases, huge compartments are formed from basalt columns, as they are also known from the Hirtstein in the Ore Mountains . The base of the rock is made of ashlar chalk sandstones that are exposed at the nearby Podlešínský potok ( Padloschin brook ).

Origin of name

"Vrkoč" stands for the braid in Czech . The German name Workotsch is derived from it.
