The Eifel mountain railway mbH (VEB) is a railway company based in Gerolstein , which mainly freight services as well as special trains offering passenger.

history

In 2000, EBM-Touristik GmbH was founded as a private railway company with headquarters in Gerolstein. The object of the company was initially the provision of special and excursion transports, for which, in addition to rail bus sets, passenger coaches were also procured. In March 2002, together with the licensing as a railway company, the name of EBM-Touristik was changed to Vulkan-Eifel-Bahn Betriebsgesellschaft mbH.

As a railway infrastructure company, VEB operated the Eifelquerbahn between Gerolstein and Kaisersesch from July 2002 to December 2012 . To this day, it still maintains the Gerolstein depot as its own infrastructure for parking trains.

In 2015 VEB operated up to 2 replacement train sets on the NRW-RB 48 between Bonn and Wuppertal for the National Express Rail NRW (Cologne). In 2016/17 VEB provided replacement traffic on the Munich – Kufstein route for the Bayerische Oberlandbahn .

In January 2019, VEB put out the route between Kaisersesch and Gerolstein for the purpose of submission.

Vehicle fleet

A heavy-duty transformer transport for Amprion , destined for the Dauersberg substation , with a diesel locomotive of the DB series V100 of the Vulkan-Eifel-Bahn on the Hellertalbahn between Zeppenfeld and Neunkirchen (November 2018).
