Vytautas Gapšys

Vytautas Gapšys (born January 25, 1982 in Kėdainiai ) is a former Lithuanian liberal politician , Seimas vice-president (2012-2013).

Life

After graduating from high school "Atžalynas" Kėdainiai in 2000, Gapšys completed a bachelor's degree in law from 2000 to 2004 and a master's degree in international law at the Mykolo Romerio universitetas (MRU) in Vilnius from 2004 to 2006 . In 2003 he studied in Belgium at the University of Ghent in the ERASMUS program.

From 2003 to 2005 Gapšys headed the youth organization "Darbas". He has been a member of the Seimas since 2008 , where he served on the Legal Committee until 2012. From November 2012 to October 2013 he was the first deputy chairman of the Seimas. He was also an opposition leader .

Impeachment proceedings

In 2016, the impeachment proceedings against Gapšys were initiated because he was convicted of fraudulent bookkeeping. However, the Constitutional Court of Lithuania did not assess Gapšys' actions until a Seimas member took the oath of office, the impeachment stagnated, and the parliamentarian himself later resigned.

Gapšys is married. He and his wife Justė have a son and a daughter.
