The Wöddelbek (Low German Wöddelbeek ) is the first tributary of the Alster . It rises and flows into Henstedt-Ulzburg in the Segeberg district , Schleswig-Holstein , the source of the Alster.

course

The source of the Wöddelbek is located in the Henstedt district , 128 meters south of the eponymous Wöddelteiche near the old school on Dorfstrasse, 50 meters from the next development, Am Wischhof . From there it flows south, crosses under the Suhrrehm after 225 m and passes an approx. 0.4 hectare lake west of the Surredder . From Suhrrehm the Wöddelbek flows 1.66 kilometers to the south, on its way it joins seven smaller streams and moats. After two curves, it enters the Oberalsterniederung nature reserve and after 170 meters, coming from the north, it flows into the 950 m long Alster , coming from the south , north-northeast of the Rhen district and 500 meters west of the mouth of the second tributary of the Alster, the Wischbek . The Wöddelbek is not navigable.

The city council of Henstedt-Ulzburg, which is responsible for maintaining the river, is planning its renaturation , but decided that the old meanders should not be reopened.
