Wörsdorf is a district of Guckheim in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate , Germany .

Wörsdorf, old names Wersdorf , Werschdorf , Wirsdorf and Wyrßdorff , lies west of the eponymous district of Guckheim am Elbbach .
history
During construction work on Rothenberg near Wörsdorf, a layer of pottery was found about 5 cm thick and about 4–5 m² in size, which, according to studies, dates from AD 1000. Presumably there was a cult site on the Rothenberg around the turn of the millennium .
The first mentions of Wörsdorf can be found in records of possessions of the Seligenstatt Monastery from the years 1213–1215. Wörsdorf was first mentioned in a document on September 25, 1285.
Over time, both places grew together to form a community. Although Wörsdorf is the older district, Guckheim prevailed as the name for both districts.
The name probably results from the economic importance of the mill in the Guckheim district, which was first mentioned in a document in 1511. As a result, Guckheim became more important than Wörsdorf for the residents of the predominantly agricultural neighboring communities.
In the Germania Sacra , Wörsdorf is mentioned for the year 1564 as a branch of the Church of Salt incorporated into the St. Serverus Abbey in Gemünden . The pen raised tithing in full that year .
