Wladyslaw Abraham
Władysław Henryk Franciszek Abraham (born October 10, 1860 in Sambir , † October 15, 1941 in Lemberg ) was a Polish historian who dealt with the history of canon law and Polish law.
Life
Władysław Abraham was born in Sambir on October 10, 1860. He studied at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow , where he did his doctorate in 1883. He was a student of Michał Bobrzyński , Udalryk Heyzmann and Stanisław Smolik .
After his habilitation in canon law in 1886, he was a professor at the Jagiellonian University. From 1888 he was an associate professor and from 1890 to 1939 a full professor at the University of Lemberg . In 1899/1900 he was the rector there . From 1935 to 1939 he was also a professor at the Catholic University of Lublin .
In 1902 he was an active member of the Polska Akademia Umiejętności .
Because of his scientific merits (he published around 250 works) he received an honorary doctorate in 1930 at the University of Vilnius , in 1931 at the University of Lviv and at the University of Poznan .
