Władysław Plater (born November 7, 1808 in Vilnius , † April 22, 1889 in Kilchberg near Zurich ) was a Polish-Lithuanian patriot from the Lithuanian-Polish noble family of Count Plater , brother of Cezary Plater .

Life

Władysław Plater took part in the November uprising in Lithuania in 1830/1831 as Rozick's adjutant , was then Wilejka's country messenger and later founded the journal “ Le Polonais ” in Paris (1833-1836). He arranged for the address of the English people in favor of Poland, which was presented to Parliament in 1832.

Władysław Plater also worked for the Polish January Uprising in 1863 and has lived in Kilchberg near Zurich since then, married to the famous actress Karoline Bauer . In Rapperswil on Lake Zurich , he built the Polish National Museum at Rapperswil Castle . He died on April 22, 1889 in his Villa Broelberg in Kilchberg.
