W. Hagelberg AG
The W. Hagelberg AG , also briefly WH AG , was a public company -operated printing and publishing house in Berlin .
History and products
The company was originally founded by Hermann Delius . In his lithographic establishment, for example, he drew and lithographed a city map of Berlin around 1850 , which was then drawn up on canvas for the Royal Cartographic Institute and probably later marked the Berlin living and working places of the Brothers Grimm with red arrows . In October 1853 Delius sold the company to Wolf Hagelberg (1825-1896). After his death, the company was converted into a stock corporation in 1897 and produced, for example, chromolithographic products such as posters , advertising cards , packaging , calendars , labels , coloring and picture books as well as greeting cards and postcards , games and so on using stone printing .
In the course of the global economic crisis , the company was insolvent in August 1932; a bankruptcy petition failed due to lack of funds , which meant the end of the company in 1933.
Special products
Consecutively numbered "hold-against-the-light" view cards
A specialty of the company, protected as a registered design under DRGM number 88077 , were multi-layered, consecutively numbered so-called Halt-gegen-das-Licht -postcards, in which the front layer of paper was broken through and which gave the impression of evening lighting in so-called moonlight cards .
