Through the town of Waag (St.2306)

Until 1811, Waag was an independent town in what is now the Aschaffenburg district in Spessart, Bavaria . After the incorporation into the community of Schöllkrippen , the district was assigned to the Alzenau district court in 1828 . Until about 1900 the name Waag appeared on the local maps and place directories. Today it has grown structurally with Schöllkrippen and the name has almost completely disappeared. Waag is on today's state road 2306 between Schöllkrippen and Schneppenbach on the right of the Kahl . At the time of merging with Schöllkrippen, the place had about 150 inhabitants. From 1783 Waag belonged to Schöllkrippen (St. Luke's Chapel). The Waagstraße is named after the former part of the village .

etymology

The name Waag goes back to the Middle High German word wac , which means moving water. The place was popularly called "Woog".
