Wilhelm Speckhardt

Wilhelm Speckhardt (* 1959 in Darmstadt ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was Mayor of Eschborn from 2001 to 2014 .

Life

After finishing school, Speckhardt studied at the Administrative College in Darmstadt and graduated in 1982 with a degree in administrative management (FH). He also worked for the Darmstadt city administration for eight years and in 1983 switched to the administration of the Modautal municipality in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district . In 1991 he was elected full-time mayor of Modautal by the local government. When the first direct election of the mayor took place on December 1, 1996 , Speckhardt was confirmed as mayor with 68% of the vote. He held this office until January 2000. From February 2000, Speckhardt became Eschborn's first city councilor . On August 19, 2001 he was elected mayor. He achieved 59.9% of the votes. On September 2, 2007, he was re-elected with 59% of the vote. After no candidate won a majority in the mayoral election on September 22, 2013, there was a runoff on October 6. In this, Speckhardt was defeated by his opponent Mathias Geiger with 38.9% to 61.1% of the votes cast.

Furthermore was Speckhardt, which is since 1983 member of the CDU, for 16 years council deputy in the council Darmstadt-Dieburg and served there for several years as deputy chairman of the faction of his party. He later became a member of the district council in Main-Taunus and a member of the finance committee of the Hessian city council.

Speckhardt has been married since 1992.
