Wacław Ostroróg Herb Nałęcz (* before 1501; † 1527 ) was the castellan of Kalisz and, as the son of the Poznan voivod Jan Ostroróg, part of the wealthy Ostroróg noble family .

Life and meaning

His mother was the Princess Helena Raciborska. His brother Stanisław Ostroróg, who was the predecessor as castellan of Kalisz, is said to have given Emperor Maximilian I the status of imperial count in 1516 . He studied in Vienna with his brother Stanisław . After their father's death in 1501, they had disputes over property. In 1515, an arbitrator was appointed before the king to divide up between the brothers. After the death of his brother in 1519 the problem resolved itself and he became castellan of Kalisz. Since his subsequent relatives died without descendants, his land holdings became one of the largest in Wielkopolska .

Wacław Ostroróg and Urszula von Kutno-Potocka had four children, of whom the two sons went down in history as leaders of the Reformation in Greater Poland:
