The quail trildes are an African genus of fine finches . The assignment of individual species to this genus is still disputed. The grasshopper tiger is sometimes assigned to the genus of the quail tiger ( Ortygospiza ). There is no doubt that there are close family ties between the quail and the grasshopper and they share some locomotion characteristics. Due to the similarly existing relationship to gold breasts , tiger tiger and olive green astrild , it is also assigned to its own genus Paludipasser . The black-chin quail tiger, on the other hand, is often classified as a subspecies of the quail tiger . The IOU currently (2018) lists the genus as monotypical with the quail deer as the only species.
description
Wachtelastrilde are very small splendid finch cards. Their tail is very short and they mostly live on the ground. They have legs similar to larks with flat toes and a very long rear toe. They colonize open grasslands or sandy areas with few grass bulbs. They are usually not far from the water. They are in many ways similar to the genus of the tiger trilde , but exhibit a number of behaviors that are to be interpreted in terms of an adaptation to life on the ground. They are the only magnificent finches that can run almost like a chicken. All other fine finch species show hopping locomotion.
species
The following species are counted among the quail fries:
- Locustella ( O. locustella ), often placed in an independent genus Paludipasser .
- Black-chin quail deer ( O. gabonensis )
- Quail deer ( O. atricollis )
