Christian Rumpf

Christian Rumpf (born January 11, 1954 in Heidelberg ) is a German lawyer, lawyer, university professor and author.

Live and act

Born in Heidelberg, Rumpf spent several years in Istanbul where he attended the German School . After graduating from high school in 1972, he did his military service as a contract soldier in the German Navy from 1972 to 1974. After studying law from 1974 to 1979 at the University of Heidelberg , he received a two-year DAAD scholarship as a visiting scholar at the Law Faculty of Ankara University . In addition to his legal clerkship, he took on a position as a consultant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, which he held part-time until 2001. From 1984 to 1989 Rumpf was assistant for public law, European law and international law at the University of Frankfurt am Main with Michael Bothe . In 1990 he did his doctorate at the University of Heidelberg under Rudolf Bernhardt on the subject: "The rule of law in the Turkish legal system" and an exegesis on the subject of "The Conseil d / Etat and the détournement de pouvoir in French law" for a "Doctor of both rights" ( Dr. iur. utr. ). Rumpf had already accepted a teaching position for Turkish law at the University of Bamberg in 1987 , from which today's honorary professorship for Turkish law in Bamberg has developed. Since then he has held several teaching positions at the universities of Frankfurt (European commercial law), Passau and Munich (Turkish law) and Yeditepe in Istanbul (international commercial law). Rumpf was admitted to the bar in 1989. He is the founder and senior partner of the business law firm Rumpf Rechtsanwälte in Stuttgart and the main partner of the management consultancy Rumpf Consulting in Istanbul. He is honorary professor for Turkish law at the University of Bamberg. Rumpf works as an arbitrator, expert and litigator in international arbitration proceedings as well as a consultant for parliaments and ministries of the EU, the Federal Republic of Germany and Turkey. He is the author of numerous specialist publications. Rumpf is on the board of the German-Turkish Lawyers' Association and a member of various other associations, in particular DIS, ASA and ArbAut. He is married and has two children.

Awards

  • In 2004 the University of Bamberg awarded Rumpf the title of honorary professor for his services to teaching and research in Turkish law in Germany .
