The Wada Pass ( Japanese 和田 峠 , Wada-tōge ) is a mountain pass in the Japanese region of Kantō . The border between the prefectures of Tokyo and Kanagawa and the watershed between the river systems of the Tama and Sagami runs over the top of the pass (690 m above sea level ) . The prefecture road 521 (Jimba-kaidō) leads over the pass, which connects the northeastern Hachiōji with the southwestern Fujino (now part of Sagamihara ). The narrow pass road (maximum gradient 18%) is paved throughout and is basically drivable all year round, but is closed in the event of heavy rain . From the top of the pass, hiking trails lead to the mountain Jimba to the south and from there to the east to Takao and to Shōtō in a north-easterly direction.

The Wada Pass is a popular destination for hikers, cyclists and motorcyclists from the Tokyo-Yokohama metropolitan area .
