Wade MacLauchlan

Wade MacLauchlan (born December 10, 1954 in Stanhope , Prince Edward Island ) is a Canadian politician of the Prince Edward Island Liberal Party .

Life

MacLauchlan studied law and economics at the University of Prince Edward Island , the University of New Brunswick and Yale University . On February 23, 2015, he became Prime Minister of Prince Edward Island, succeeding Robert Ghiz . He has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island since May 3, 2015 . He is the party leader of the Prince Edward Island Liberal Party. MacLauchlan is married to the Canadian theater director Duncan McIntosh. The Liberals suffered a defeat in the election to the provincial parliament in April 2019, whereupon MacLauchlan resigned from the office of Prime Minister on May 9, 2019. His successor was Dennis King of the Progressive Conservative Party .
