This list outlines the Prime Minister (Engl. Premier ) of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Iceland on. Prince Edward Island has a unicameral parliament with a parliamentary government based on the Westminster system . The prime minister is also the chairman of the party that holds the most seats in the legislative assembly . The Prime Minister acts as head of government , while the head of state , the Canadian monarch , by a Deputy Governor (lieutenant governor) is represented. In addition, the Prime Minister puts together and presides over the government called the Executive Council from among the elected MPs. Before joining the Canadian Confederation in 1873, Prince Edward Island was a British crown colony. The right to self-government existed since 1851.
