List of Prime Ministers of Nova Scotia
This list outlines the Prime Minister (Engl. Premier ) of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia on. Nova Scotia has a unicameral parliament with a parliamentary government based on the Westminster system . The Prime Minister is also the chairman of the party that holds the most seats in the House of Representatives . The Prime Minister acts as head of government , while the head of state , the Canadian monarch , by a Deputy Governor (lieutenant governor) is represented. In addition, the Prime Minister puts together and presides over the government called the Executive Council from among the elected MPs. Before the Canadian Confederation in 1867, Nova Scotia was a British crown colony that had the right to self-government from 1848.
