List of Prime Ministers of New Brunswick
This list includes the Prime Ministers (English premier , French premier ministre ) of the Canadian province of New Brunswick . New Brunswick has a unicameral parliament with a parliamentary government based on the Westminster system . The prime minister is also the chairman of the party that holds the most seats in the legislative assembly . The Prime Minister acts as head of government , while the head of state , the Canadian monarch , by a Deputy Governor (lieutenant governor) is represented. In addition, the Prime Minister puts together and presides over the government called the Executive Council from among the elected MPs. Before joining the Canadian Confederation in 1867, New Brunswick was a British crown colony and the right to self-government had existed since 1854.
