List of Prime Ministers of Quebec

Flag of Quebec

This list includes the Prime Ministers (English premier , French premier ministre ) of the Canadian province of Québec . Québec has a unicameral parliament (formerly bicameral parliament) with a parliamentary government based on the Westminster system . Here, the Prime Minister is also chairman of the party, in the National Assembly (English National Assembly of Quebec , French Assemblée nationale du Québec ) holds the most seats. The prime minister appears as head of government , while the head of state , the Canadian monarch , is represented by a vice-governor (French lieutenant-governor ). In addition, the Prime Minister puts together and presides over the government called the Executive Council from among the elected MPs.

Only Prime Ministers since the Canadian Confederation in 1867 are included in this list . In the previously existing province of Canada , a prime minister from the French part (Québec) and the English part ( Ontario ) ruled jointly (see list of prime ministers of the province of Canada ). Lower Canada Colony was administered by emissaries from the British Crown from 1792 to 1840.
