Wagaya no Oinari-sama. ( Japanese. 我 が 家 の お 稲 荷 さ ま。 , dt. about: "The venerable Inari [fox] of our house.") is a light novel series by the Japanese author Jin Shibamura with illustrations by Eizō Hōden . The series was adapted as a manga and anime . The work can be classified into the genres of fantasy and comedy .
content
Kūgen Tenko ( 天 狐 空幻 ) is an Inari fox ( kitsune ) and was the protector of the Mizuchi family until they were sealed by a priest for their bad behavior. But when the boy Tōru Takagami ( 高 上 透 ) is attacked by a demon in modern times , his older, 16-year-old brother Noboru Takagami ( 高 上 昇 ) frees the sealed Kūgen Tenko to protect him. Noboru is the future head of the Mizuchi family.
From then on, Kūgen Tenko served the two brothers as a guardian, and she could take on a female as well as a male form. However, with its unusual appearance, such as the fox's ears, it attracts attention and has to hide in public.
publication
The light novel has been published by ASCII Media Works in Japan under the Dengeki Bunko label since February 2004 . Seven volumes were published by October 2007. The first volume won the 10th Dengeki Novel Prize in gold ahead of its publication in 2003 .
Adaptations
Manga
An adaptation of the light novel as a manga has been published in Dengeki Comic Gao magazine since February 2007 ! , at Dengeki Daioh since April 2008 . The drawings are by Suiren Shōfū . By February 2010 the chapters appeared in five edited volumes .
Anime
In 2008, the ZEXCS studio produced a 24-part anime television series based on the light novel, directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki. The character design of the series was created by Yasunari Nitta. The series premiered from April 7, 2008 to September 15, 2008 at midnight, the previous television day on Chiba TV . With a one-and-a-half hour delay, TV Saitama followed , from April 8th TV Kanagawa and KBS Kyōto , from April 9th Sun TV and from April 10th Tokyo MX and TV Aichi . A nationwide broadcast only took place from August 20, 2009 to January 28, 2010 on AT-X .
The anime was licensed for North America by Kadokawa Pictures USA in 2008 . After Kadokawa Pictures USA withdrew from the license market in August 2009, the anime was licensed by NIS America, the American subsidiary of Nippon Ichi Software , in February 2010 , as one of four titles with which the company plans to enter the US anime market. Volume 1 was published under the title Our Home's Fox Deity on November 16, 2010, while the last volume 2 is planned for February 22, 2011, both including art books.

The music for the series was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi. The opening credits are KI-ZU-NA - Haruka Naru Mono e ( KI-ZU-NA 〜 遥 か な る 者 へ ) by Hitomi Sora, for the credits Kaze ga Nani ka o Iou to Shiteiru ( 風 が な に か を 言 お う と し てい る ) by Saori Hayami and Shiawase no Kotodama ( シ ア ワ セ の 言 霊 ) by Yukana, Hayami Saori and Takahashi Mikako.
