The constituency of Austria ob der Enns 3 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian crown land of Austria ob der Enns (Upper Austria). The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy.
history
After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency Austria ob der Enns 3 comprised the (southern) part of the provincial capital Linz, which was not covered by constituency 1 or constituency 2 , as well as the municipalities of Traun , Kleinmünchen , St. Peter and Leonding (all court district Linz ).
From the Imperial Council election in 1907 was Anton Weiguny ( Socialist Workers Party ) emerged as the winner. Weiguny was able to defend his mandate in the Reichsrat election in 1911 , although he died in 1914. Due to the First World War , the House of Representatives was not convened between 1914 and 1917, which is why there was no replacement election. The second strongest party in the constituency was the Christian Social Party , followed by the German People's Party .
