The electoral district Tirol 1 was an electoral district for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian Crown Land of Tirol . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy.
history
After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I came into effect on January 26, 1907 . With the new Reichsrat election order, a total of 516 electoral districts were created, with one member being elected in each constituency with the exception of Galicia in the course of the Reichsrat election. The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election. The constituency Tirol 1 comprised the inner city of the provincial capital Innsbruck, more precisely that part of Innsbruck that was enclosed by the right bank of the Inn and the railway bodies of the southern and state railways.
Eduard Erler ( German People's Party ) emerged victorious from the 1907 Reichsrat election , but he resigned his mandate in May 1908. Subsequently, the Social Democrat Josef Holzhammer prevailed in the election of the Reichsrat supplementary election on November 20, 1908 , but Eduard Erler was able to win back the mandate in the Reichsrat election in 1911 .
