In the 2015 local elections, the mayor was elected in Recke. The background was the law to strengthen local democracy , which was passed under Rüttger's cabinet . This provided for a decoupling of the election dates for the municipal council and the mayor. The election date was September 13, 2015.

Only the incumbent mayor Eckhard Kellermeier (CDU) was appointed.

In the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on May 25, 2014 , Recke's local council was re-elected.

The CDU became the strongest parliamentary group in the local council but narrowly missed an absolute majority. For the first time, the FDP took part in a local council election in Recke. The election of the mayor was carried out with the election of the district administrator on September 13, 2015. Recke did not make use of the law to strengthen local democracy, which made it possible to bring the elections forward to the election of the local council.

In the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2009 , which took place on August 30, 2009, the local council and the mayor were newly elected.

The incumbent mayor Josef Plumpe (CDU) did not stand in the mayoral election in 2009 for reasons of age. The candidates were Eckhard Kellermeyer (CDU), Peter Leistner (SPD) and Antonius Boß (independent).

Eckhard Kellermeyer was elected the new mayor with 68.2%. Since there was no run-off election for the mayor in 2009, a simple majority would have been sufficient.

In the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia on August 30, 2009 , the Recke local council was re-elected. The CDU became the strongest parliamentary group in the local council but narrowly missed an absolute majority. For the first time, the Recke municipal alliance (KBR) ran a municipal council election in Recke. The Greens renounced candidates under their own name and supported the local alliance Recke. In addition, Antonius Boss stood up as a single candidate.

District elections

District election 2015

On September 13, 2015, a new district administrator was elected in the Steinfurt district. The candidates were Klaus Effing (CDU), Stefan Giebel (SPD) and Hermann Stübbe (Greens). The previous incumbent Thomas Kubendorff (CDU) did not run again. In Recke, the turnout was 42.7%; 4,007 people cast their votes here. The turnout for the district was 41.5%.

The European elections took place on May 26, 2019. 8,911 people were entitled to vote. The turnout was 69.29%. As across Germany, the Greens also have strong growth in Recke. In Recke, as in the national trend, the SPD and CDU recorded heavy losses compared to the 2014 European elections .

The smaller parties AfD, FDP and Linke have only seen slight increases in the Recke community.
